Good
things to know:
The
college nurse is a nurse, not a physician.
She cannot make medical diagnoses. She can
assess your complaint and pertinent body system and make a nursing
diagnosis, discussing next steps of care.
It is not the intention of the college nurse to be identified as a primary healthcare
provider. She will assist you with
short-term / temporary health problems, but please stay connected with your
primary healthcare provider for your on-going healthcare.
Medications. The
office stocks a limited formulary of non-prescription, over-the-counter
(OTC) medications to treat common - uncomplicated ailments. Students must
self-select OTC's. Health center staff cannot recommend an OTC. Educational
materials are available to assist with your OTC selection.
Privacy and confidentiality
are a fundamental right of all health service clients. Student Health Services
must adhere to HIPAA privacy regulations, which means no information is
released to anyone without the student's written consent. Also, no
information appears in any other departmental or college records without
written prior consent.
