Shasta’s
College’s information technology services departments have provided
planning support for both large-scale multi-year endeavors and smaller
scope requests.
Large scale
support has included the Datatel implementation, new construction
projects (infrastructure—equipment and wiring, electronic access,
classroom/lab computer configurations and peripherals, ITV equipment,
specialty software, and furniture), and major infrastructure
maintenance and upgrades (core routing and switching to support
network convergence, backup system and multi-conferencing system
upgrades to support business continuity).
Large scale
planning support has resulted in the determination of major hardware
(mainframe) and comprehensive computing packages for registration and
business applications, the software and hardware for on-line
instruction, hardware and software for anti-virus protection and spam
filtering, and staff data storage.
Additional
planning support has included classroom/lab upgrades and the cascading
of assets from such upgrades. The two information technology
departments (Administrative Computing Systems and Network & Technology
Support) have assisted in planning the college’s five-year Title III
purchases and provided support for State Instructional Equipment Fund
purchases and other specialized funding sources such as CalWORKS,
grants, and other categorical funds.
