Mr. Berry’s work features geometric solids, cubes, cones, and spheres. It
probes the relationships these solids might have with one another. Berry’s
current sculptures are fragments of interlocking spheres described by conic
bands. According to Berry, “they grow from a premise or first move, one conic
band joining another. Each subsequent move adds form and limits to the whole.
The finished piece is a balance of the sculptural intent and the alignments of
the spheres. The forms are not apparent from a single perspective, but are
revealed when seen in the round.” Mr. Berry will give an artist slide lecture
on the main campus Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., in the Humanities
Room 400. The community is welcome. Admission is free.
