Brain Development

• From Neurons to Neighborhoods is an important publication for all people interested in children under the age of five. This book is available to read on-line or to download from the National Academies Press.
   
• The Zero to Three website has a comprehensive section on brain brain development (you must first register), including Frequently Asked Questions on Brain Development and Starting Smart, a booklet for parents and professionals. Healthy Minds is an excellent set of handouts on brain development month by month. There are many other handouts for parents available on this website.
   
• Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and the Brain This article includes a few excellent photographs of brains exposed to alcohol prenatally.
