The Administration of Justice Program at
Shasta College is designed to provide professional courses in Administration
of Justice fields for the pre-service student who is interested in pursuing
a career in this area, and for the criminal justice employee who may want to
prepare for promotional exams or to upgrade or maintain skills and
knowledge. [See Brochure.]
At Shasta College you will:
t
Receive occupational training for both the entrance and promotional levels
of Administration of Justice agencies and allied services.
t
Be able to fulfill the basic
requirements to transfer to a four-year school at junior standing.
Associate in Science Degree
The following core courses are required for
the Associate in Science Degree:

In addition to the above courses, a minimum
of six elective or “option” units must be completed from the following

Selected social science courses should be
considered to complete the Associate in Science Degree requirements.
Modular Basic Course Training
Students may take a portion of the POST
Modular Basic Course (police academy) at Shasta College. This course in
total consists of three “levels” of training;
Level III (consists of two courses)
832 PC Arrest & Firearms. Level III part
one, 64hrs.
Level III part two, 98 hrs.
Level II (one 228 hr course)
Level I (one 400 hr course)
These courses are taken in the order listed
above. Shasta College currently presents:
Level III ADJU 100 and ADJU 102
Level II ADJU 131
Reserve Officer Training
Shasta
College currently offers POST Reserve Officer Training courses:
Level III
Level
II
Completion of these courses (same as
Modular Basic courses) allow students to work at reserve capacities
commensurate with level of training.

throughout the U.S. need qualified men and women. A career in an
Administration of Justice field offers a variety of challenging
opportunities. Positions are available for men and women. The scope of
employment in the Administration of Justice field is unlimited.
A variety of agencies exist at the federal,
state and local levels of government. Private industry also offers many job
opportunities. Some examples of available job opportunities at different
levels are:

Administration of Justice agencies
typically offer fringe benefits including good retirement programs, paid
vacations, forty-hour work week, extra pay or compensation time off for
holidays and court time; many departments offer additional salary incentives
based on educational achievements. Other benefits include the personal
satisfaction of serving one’s community and working in an interesting
occupation.
Employment Requirements
Certain personal qualifications are
necessary for satisfactory performance in the field of Administration of
Justice. Failure to meet personal and physical requirements may exclude
persons from employment.
The California Commission on Peace
Officer’s Standards and Training and individual Administration of Justice
agencies have established the following minimum standards:
Do you qualify?

Minimum age of 18 years.
· t
Shall not have been convicted of a felony and be of good moral
character.
· t
Physical qualifications: free of any physical defects that would
prevent
performance of required duties. Normal hearing, normal
color
vision and corrected vision required. Individual
departments will require minimum height and weight
requirements.
· t
Education: High school graduation or G.E.D. equivalent.
· t
Citizenship: Must be a U.S citizen.
· t
License: Must
possess a valid California Driver’s License,
issued by
the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Individual departments may require specific
mental and physical qualifications in addition to those stated above.
