Club Events

March 12, 2007: Peace, Justice, and Tolerance Club Meeting 4:00 p.m.            
Shasta College, Rm. 816

Everyone is welcome. We will be discussing up coming events in the area, how the club can increase its membership, as well as raising campus awareness about issues central to the club. For more information, call 225-4611



Community Events

March 10, 2007: Sign Painting Party for March for Peace 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Unitarian Universalist Peace and Justice Center 611 Azalea Dr. 
(Directions: just south of the Red Lion and Holiday Inn on  Hilltop. Turn on Azalea, cross Iris, turn into driveway with long row of offices on wither side, we are in the last office on the left)

The Redding Peace and Justice center will be holding a sign painting party to prepare signs for the March for Peace 2007. Materials will be provided, though any additional contributions of paints, poster board, etc. are appreciated. Come have fun with others making signs.

 

March 10, 2007: ACLU Elections Meeting and Discussion Panel 4:00-6:00 p.m.    Martin Luther King Jr. Center 1815 Sheridan St. Redding CA

All ACLU members are invited to vote for the Board of Directors of the new Chapter. Also, everyone is welcome to stay for a panel discussing the "Schools to Prisons Pipeline" with panelists: Joan Manning - A local activist, A representative of the ACLU-NC, Pat Sansom - A local child advocate and activist

 

March 17, 2007: Peace Memorial 10:00 a.m. Lake Redding Park (In event of rain, the Memorial will take place at the Spiritual Enrichment Center, 1905 Hartnell)

Citizens For Responsible Government will host a Peace Memorial, a day to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the American Invasion and Occupation of Iraq. Speakers include:
Abu Bakr Salahuddin, Iman, Islamic Center
Phil Dynan, Peace Activist, Artist and Author
Doug Milhous, Quaker Activist and Educator
Student Speakers

There will be entertainment including the HeartSanha Choir. Potluck lunch to follow. Bring food and beverages to share, lawn chairs, blankets and table service.

March 18, 2007:   March for Peace 2:00 p.m. West parking lot of Movies 10 on Old Alturas Road.  

The Redding Peace and Justice Center invites you to the March for Peace on the 4th anniversary of the US invasion and occupation of Iraq. We will march on the sidewalks through the big box store area to the corner of Churn Creek and Dana, where we will stand to demonstrate our opposition to the War in Iraq. Bring bells, musical instruments, and let our voices be heard. Co-sponsored by Cascade Action Now (CAN!) and Citizens for Responsible Government (CRG)
