Submission of Assignments Students will submit their assignments in two ways. Each of eight lessons for this semester will encompass 10 to 12 days. Within each lesson will be several "interim" deadlines, when assignments should be emailed to the instructor for grading, and verification that the student is keeping up with the schedule. Some of these will be graded online. Each lesson will also specify several assignments which should be printed out and mailed via the US Postal service to the instructor for hand grading. This allows the student to receive more personal comments, and prevents the instructor from sitting at the computer for too many long hours in order to grade. These assignments are mailed by the lesson deadline, providing a postmark by the lesson deadline. Students also have the option of hand delivering their papers to the English Department at the college, or to their local Distance Ed office. Each submission should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope of adequate size (and postage) to ensure the return of the student's graded papers. The student should place his or her own return address in both the "To" area and the "From" area of the return envelope. To this end, each student should purchase at least 16 large manila envelopes (9 x 12" or larger) for the semester, and become familiar with the postage scale at the post office. Students who do not include self-addressed stamped envelopes of appropriate size with adequate postage for the return of their work will find I am not able to post their grades until they comply with this class requirement. |
