Song Interpretation

Select a song to analyze.  Think of a song (any category -- western, rock, folk) which has lyrics you think might have a deeper story to tell, as does "Downeaster Alexa."

Find the song lyrics on the web, (or copy them down as you listen), and download or record a copy of the song.  Make notes of your own ideas.

You will have one day of discussion on Wednesday, May 5th with your group about your song (and theirs), and then another four days before we begin presentations about your songs on Monday May 10th.

Each student will have 10 minutes to play his or her song and do a presentation, and should have copies of lyrics for other students.  We can accommodate a song on CD or cassette tape.

You should write 500 words about your interpretation of the lyrics to turn in.
