The Career Pathways Express program is a State
Grant to establish entry-level job skills for the high school graduate.
The courses are offered at the high school and are accepted by the
college to satisfy certificate or degree program requirements.
Industry was surveyed to determine what basic
skills were needed for entry-level personnel in the business area. From
this information, courses were established or modified and are offered
at the high school and as college courses. All of these meet the CORE
requirements for Shasta College’s Business Certificates and Associate
Degrees.
The high school student who completes the CORE
course will be issued a Business Employability Certificate. This
Certificate indicates to industry that the student has successfully
completed a group of courses, including Career Readiness, which provides
the basic skills for an entry-level job. In addition, the student can
also continue on the CORE course foundation and work toward college
certificates and/or an associate degree or transfer to another college
or university, which completes the pathway. Because of the courses
completed by the student prior to graduation the time-line is shorter,
it’s called the Career Pathway Express.
