Ellen Southard earned her M.A. in Music at San Francisco State University under the renowned pianist Istvan Nadas, a protégé of Béla Bartók. Ms. Southard specializes in contemporary music for the piano and organ, and is a composer of theatre music. She has lived and performed in the Netherlands, Germany, Morocco and Indonesia.
