   HOMEMADE CELL

Over the next week you are to construct a model cell out of commonly available items.  Your cell must include the following parts:  membrane, nucleus, mitochondria, rough and smooth ER, & golgi body.  Optional organelles (if you are constructing a plant cell) can be a cell wall covering the membrane, central vacuole, and chloroplasts.  Cytoskeleton structures like cilia and flagella are encouraged.  Bring your cell to lab next week and be prepared to describe it to your instructor and colleagues.

An example of cell materials include: sandwich bag for membrane, ping-pong ball for nucleus, kidney beans for mitochondria etc.  Be creative with this, it will help you study for your exams!
