The Math Business Learning Center provides a place where students can find help with any math or business course taken from Shasta College. The Learning Center has extended hours to accommodate students who's schedule doesn't allow them to work in other labs on campus and welcomes students from other disciplines to utilize the services provided. We hope that you will find as many of the students who use the lab daily a great experience and assistance to help you meet all your educational goals here at Shasta College.



ABOUT THE LEARNING CENTER

Welcome to the Shasta College Math and Business Learning Center website. From here, you can find everything you need in order to use the facility to your maximum advantage.

The Center is located in the Math and Engineering building 1100, room 1102. Click here for a map. We offer students the opportunity to practice what they learn in class, clarify difficult concepts or work on assignments. Our tutors specialize in many areas of math, computer science, and business concepts. These pages are here to help you make the most of what we offer.

You will find helpful tutors and staff to assist you in getting the most from your classes here at Shasta College. If you need assistance in your math, computer or business classes the Math/Business Learning Center has a lot of resources to assist you.

 

WHAT WE HAVE

33 Computers loaded with all the software you would need to complete you assignments. Class related printing is currently free in the lab from our two high speed printers. We also have a scanner, so you can scan images for a class project or if you have text that you need scanned into a word processor. Many of our computers are also equipped with the TI Graphlink cable so that you can hook you TI Graphing calculator up to the Internet and download software to it.

Knowledgeable tutors in mathematics, computers, and business to assist you in preparing your homework, doing projects, or studying for tests.

Books (Including Instructor Manuals for most math courses) available for checkout within the Center only. We also have graphing calculators (TI-83+ and TI-85) as well as others available for checkout. So if you don't have a calculator yet for your class or need to borrow a book to complete an assignment, we're here to help.

Videos to assist you in learning key mathematical concepts or how to use your graphing calculator. There are two monitor/VCR units available in the Learning Center.

Apr 4 - 12 - Spring Break

May 23 - Until Summer Session (date TBA)

Outside of the above days, hours and days of operation will be as above.

HELP WANTED

Math Tutors: We do not need any more tutors for the Spring Semester 2004. If you are interested in tutoring you may want to check with EOPS or DSPS.

Computer/Business Tutors: Good with Accounting, Business Math, or Computer Applications? Enjoy helping others learn the skills that you've acquired? We need tutors who can tutor in Accounting, Business Math, and in computer applications like Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc. If you know some or all of these applications or Accounting or Business Math, consider sharing your skills with other students. Various shifts are available during the hours Mon-Fri 9AM-5PM. Pick up an application in the Learning Center in room 1102.
