Reflected Pain
I hate her
I can hardly stand to look at her
She disgusts me
With her smudged makeup,
Puffy eyes, tear-stained face
And eight angry cuts across her arm
Her face is emotionless
Except for her eyes
They're sad eyes: cold, distant and
full of pain
They have the look of a girl who
doubts herself
And thinks she'll never be any good
A girl who has no confidence
"What's wrong with you?" I ask her
"Please tell me, I need to know,
I need to understand..."
Just as I expected
I receive no response
There is never an answer
But it angers me
I make a fist and smash it right into
her tear-stained face
Her image shatters into hundreds of
tiny pieces
The glass cuts my hand as it falls
But I don't care
I don't even notice
I look down at the shards that have
fallen on the counter
And see her once
again
But this time
she's broken
