Reflections
I seem to cry a lot these days
Tears of gratitude and
joys
In the company of my
gentle sons
Who I remember as little
boys
I seem to smile a lot
these days
As I think about my
friends
We have let go of
beginnings
And know that there will
be no ends
I seem to be more aware
these days
Of a stranger’s
sensitivity
A helpful hand, a gentle
smile
Give the life journey good
company
And if the hellishness of
cancer treatments
Were not truly from angel
hands
The pain would be
intolerable
But each angel understands
Her compassion and her
empathy
Are in her walk and talk
and voice
The gentle sympathy in her
eyes
Can bring a patient to
rejoice
Thank you sons, friends,
strangers and angels
For sharing the darkest of
days
Your expressions of love
are precious to me
How I love to count the
many ways
