My family moved to
Redding in 1969, and I graduated from Shasta High
School and Shasta College. My husband is also a Shasta
College graduate and both of our kids are currently
students at Shasta College.
In 1988, as a reentry student, I started working for
the Language Arts and Social Science Division as a
part-time temporary employee, and was hired in the
permanent position of Staff Secretary in 1990. Since
1999 I have been an Administrative Assistant for LASS.
I truly enjoy my job and being a part of this campus.
My hobbies include quilting, gardening, and crafts.
Favorite pastimes are spending time at home with my
family and hobbies or going to Trinidad on the coast.

My husband and I moved
to Redding in 1974 from the Bay Area when he was hired
as a business teacher at Burney High School. Both my
kids were born in Redding (1975 and 1977) and they are
now both living and working in the Bay Area just miles
from where my husband and I grew up (and loving it).
I started working at Shasta College November 1, 1976 in
the AOJ/Fire Science Department. I have "survived" two
major budget crises -- 1978 and 1982, both resulting in
moves for me. I was transferred to Financial Aid in
1978 until 1982. Then I was the secretary for the
Counseling Department for 8 years. In 1990, I was
transferred to Work Experience where I ran that program
for 7 years. Work Experience was de-centralized and I
was transferred back as the Counseling Secretary
(Secretary to the Director of Counseling & Student
Services). I worked there for 3 years and then
transferred to my current home - LASS. It was the first
time I worked with "a partner" and am thoroughly
enjoying the company. Hopefully it will be my last
"move" before I retire! I am the president of our
classified union (CSEA), which keeps me hopping (as
well as the administration).
When not working, my husband and I are enjoying our
newly remodeled house. We also grow grapes and make
wine as a hobby, and enjoy traveling by RV in
California, Oregon, Montana, Colorado and Canada. My
current hobby is scuba diving (I am in the process of
being certified). A lot of time during the summer is
spent at Lake Shasta skiing, boating, and basically
relaxing.
And as if I didn't have enough to do, I am on the Palo
Cedro Youth Soccer Board as secretary and spent last
year serving on the Shasta County Grand Jury. I
love animals and have an almost-17 year old Golden
Retriever and 2 cats. |
