Q1.  As we discussed in Chapter 1, “variety” is one of the five principles for a healthy diet.  Form a group of 3-4 people and choose one country outside the U.S. you’re interested in exploring.  Present the following in class in addition to submitting this assignment in written form.

 

Q1-1. Research and describe native foods and traditional eating customs of the country you’ve chosen.  Also, name grains, fruits, vegetables, meat/meat substitutes and milk/milk products that are commonly eaten in the country.

Q2. Nancy has recently been recording all the foods consumed everyday.  One day, she consumed 300 g of carbohydrate, 60 g of protein and 70 g of fat.  She didn’t drink any alcohol that day. 

 

Q 2-1.  In total, how many calories did she consume that day?  Show your calculation.

(Note that 1 g of carbohydrate and 1 g of protein produce 4 calories respectively, and 1 g of fat produces 9 calories.)
