NEW! GIS Ad Running at Local
Theatres
Mission
The Geographic Information Systems Program at Shasta College provides students
with an education in the practical application of geographic information systems
(GIS) and related geospatial technologies. Students learn the conceptual
foundations of GIS and develop best-practices for a range of GIS skills.
Lab experience is designed to develop skills in data acquisition, processing,
management and analysis. Map creation and other forms of data representation are
emphasized. Applied projects cover topics ranging from fuels and wildland
management, to transportation and city planning. Community involvement is an
essential part of our program. Students participate in workplace learning and
present projects to local GIS groups.
