Dear Folks,
The months of April and May have been extremely busy for the Foundation as well
as for everyone else on campus, as another school year comes to an end.
I am pleased to welcome our new student Foundation Board member, Nate Stover.
Nate was recommended by Geology instructor, Randy Reed. Nate’s goal is to earn a
degree in Marine Sciences in preparation for graduate school at the Scripps
Oceanographic Institute. We look forward to Nate being a part of our Foundation
Board.
I am very pleased to report that the Foundation’s new website is up and running
and it is a much improved version over the previous site. It can be viewed at:
http://www3.shastacollege.edu/foundation/index.htm
I think you’ll find that the most interesting part of the site are the pictures
from the various Foundation events. I want to thank Raimund Schulze, Chris
Takemoto and Michael Sumption for their hard work and creativity.
Our Spring Voluntary Payroll Deduction Staff Drive has been the most successful
ever, thanks to the support of Gary Lewis and his belief in the Foundation’s
promise. Gary has been going to the Departments and Divisions on campus
promoting the Foundation and our activities. A sincere thanks to all of you who
have been contributing, and to our new contributors. You make a difference!
Attached you will find a detailed report of the Foundation’s fundraising
activity for the last year.
Have a great summer and take great care in all you do.

The
Foundation is proud to sponsor and be actively involved in all on-campus events
and programs. In 2007, we funded a total of $12,213 for events and programs and
in 2008 to date, we’ve funded a total of $11,095. All monies collected through
this program are used to support and encourage a creative activist college
environment that every college should foster. The primary beneficiary of this
work is our students.

The
Foundation worked with Dr. Ron Clark on a dental hygiene grant for our Dental
Hygiene program and on January 25, 2008, we received word that the Foundation

At our
Dental Hygiene Reception on April 4, 2008, the Foundation was presented with an
additional check for $50,000 for our Dental Hygiene Program.
Foundation Vision 2008 and
Beyond
Our
priorities for the year 2008 and beyond are a continuation and deepening of our
on-going campus involvement and our community involvement. We’ve reached the
place in our development where we have established our Foundation on campus and
in the community.
The
Shasta College Foundation is about the future of Shasta College. Our direction
toward the future will be as it has been from the beginning. That is, a steady,
deliberate growth toward our Foundation’s sustainability and a vision of Shasta
College’s future based upon deep and meaningful relationships.
