Assignments

We'll be doing the following assignments this semester:

· Papers: 4 papers of varying lengths over the course of the semester. You may revise one by semester's end for a higher grade. 

· Exams: 1 examsconsisting of multiple-choice questions, short answers, and possibly an essay.

· Quizzes: 15 open-book quizzes on the readings. Most quizzes are due by the Wednesday of each week.

· Participation: Regular participation in class discussions is also part of your grade. For most weeks you are expected to post at least three times to the weekly Discussion prompt, once before the Wednesday of each week, and then to at least two of your peers by the following Monday.

· Conferences: Students are required to meet twice with Dr. Nigro over the course of the semester.

· Study time: Plan to spend 2-3 hours studying per week for each class lecture hour (English 1C has 3 weekly lecture hours). "Study," here, means doing the reading, preparing for the quizzes, planning and writing papers, meeting with Dr. N. or with tutors, studying for exams, etc.
