The basis of much
of my work are pictorial journeys. These allegorical bodies of
painting revolve around gardenscapes. Images initially come
from external ideas on garden variations. The views are from
the eyes of the gypsy ferry who shares them with her parrot and garden
mistress. These window worlds are oftentimes spatially
flattened. Thereby, allowing interesting painterly problems
dealing in pattern, values and color intensity. In painting, I
try to be as subjective with color as nature can be at times.
By this I mean that bright reds, yellows, blues, and purples could
at any one time all be seen on a single bird or plant or randomly
placed side by side with no control for their patterns or contrast.
