Description:
The Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council of Shasta County has a
900 hour AmeriCorps Parent Partner position available in the Anderson
area. Average service hours are 30-35 per week. Average monthly stipend
is $1470 with a 900 hour commitment to be completed by 6/30/2009. In
addition, a scholarship to be applied towards tuition or existing
student loans valued at $2362.50 is awarded upon completion of each term
(maximum 2 years of service allowed). Healthy Start Parent Partner Service Description – Healthy Start The Healthy Start Family Resource Specialist will serve families and children through the Healthy Start Family Center. The Family Resource Specialist will provide individual support, advocacy, education, and linkages to needed community resources. The Healthy Start Family Resource Specialist will provide outreach to children and families at a variety of schools and collaborate and build relationships with local service providers. The Family Resource Specialist will provide leadership at the Healthy Start Family Center that includes greeting families, answering phones, and maintaining data collection system on families served. Training will be provided.
Requirements: A desirable candidate will possess a B.A degree, or
an AA degree with two years experience with case management in a health,
social service, or education field, or a combination of experience and
education that totals four year. Volunteer experience will be accepted
when considering a candidate. A very well qualified applicant will have
educational, professional, and personal experience with the challenges
parents face. Occasional evening and weekend service. Applicant must
possess the ability to successfully operate e-mail and word processing
software. Have strong verbal, written, and communication skills.
Bilingual (Spanish/ English) is desirable. Proof of reliable
transportation and full coverage auto insurance is required. Must be
eligible to work in the US and be willing to complete a criminal
background check. |

The Child Abuse Prevention Coordinating Council of Shasta County has a
1700 hour AmeriCorps Parent Partner position in Redding, Ca. Average
service hours are 40 per week. Health insurance and child care may be
available for qualifying members. Average monthly stipend is $1893 with
a 1700 hour commitment to be completed over 10 months. In addition, a
scholarship to be applied towards tuition or existing student loans
valued at $4,725 is awarded upon completion of each term (maximum 2
years of service allowed). Parent Partner Service Description: A Parent Partner serves at risk pregnant women and families with children, and foster families. Parent Partners will provide individual support, advocacy, education and linkages to needed community resources using case management. Many families will be at risk for family violence, drug abuse, maternal depression and/or maternal infant attachment disorder.
