The Shasta College
Early Childhood Education Center offers
optimal developmentally-focused experiences for children and college
students who are studying Early Childhood Education. Fundamental to the
program is recognition that children's needs are primary. Child advocacy
guides all aspects of the program. The Shasta College Early Childhood
Center program acknowledges and nurtures sensitivity to children,
cultures, and communities.
Staff
The staff at the Early Childhood Education Center are professionals who
are qualified by the State of California Commission on Teacher
Credentialing and the Department of Social Services. The Early Childhood
Education teaching faculty are an integral component of the college
laboratory training site. Students majoring in Early Childhood Education
provide assistance to the staff once prerequisite coursework is complete
enhancing adult-child ratios.

The Shasta College Early Childhood Center is an experiential-based
program that meets each enrolled child's unique learning style. The
self-directed activities are provided in a developmentally enriching
indoor and outdoor environment. Concrete learning experiences on campus,
include field trips to the library, farm, fire department, nature trail,
theater, and other educational departments.
