ECE - Child Development Permit Matrix Information

 
 

The Child Development Permit is issued by the State of California California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

The six levels include:
Assistant Teacher 6 units of Early childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development (CD). No experience required. This permit authorizes the holder to assist in the instruction of children under supervision of
Associate Teacher or above (see below.

Associate Teacher 12 units ECE/CD including core courses* and 50 days of 3 plus hours per day within 2 years. This permit authorizes the holder to provide instruction and supervise an assistant teachers.
Teacher 24 units ECE/CD including core courses*. The Experience requirment is: 175 days of 3 plus hours per day within 4 years. This permit authorizes the holder to provide instruction and supervise the Associate
Teacher and the Assistant Teacher.

Master Teacher 24 ECE/CD units including core courses* plus 16 GE units**; plus specialization units; plus 2 adult supervision units. The experience requirement is 350 days of 3 plus hours per day within 4 years. The holder of this permit may provide instruction and supervise an aide, Assistant Teacher, Associate Teacher, and Teacher and may also serve as coordinator of curriculum and staff development.

Site Supervisor AA Degree (or 60 units) with 24 ECE/CD units (including core*); plus 6 units administration; plus 2 units adult supervision. The experience requirement is 350 days of 3 plus hours per day within 4 years. A Site supervisor may supervise a single site program, provide instruction, and serve as coordinator of curriculum and staff development.
