The Program

Shasta College offers courses that prepare students for the Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) and/or the Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) industry certification exams. Students completing either of these certifications will have a solid foundation of skills and knowledge that can lead to a successful career in the Computer Networking field. Most entry-level positions have salaries around $35,000 per year depending on geographical location. It is recommended that students completing the CCNA or CCNP classes at Shasta College also complete the complementary course work for a certificate or degree in computer networking.

A recent study by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the networking and communication fields to be the fastest growing in the country with a projected 57 percent increase in positions through 2012. The skills learned in the Cisco Networking Academy Program courses are an important component of preparing students to work in this growing area of employment.


Through an agreement with Cisco Systems, Shasta College is a Cisco Regional Networking Academy. Under this agreement, Shasta College uses instructional materials developed by Cisco Systems to deliver training in the networking field, and facilitates delivery of the program in local high schools.
