Meet the Instructor:
Carol has been a full-time
instructor at Shasta College for 39 years. She began her career in 1969
as the sole instructor in the Home Economics Department where she taught
all the courses including Foods & Nutrition, Fashion Analysis, Tailoring
& Pattern Design, Interior Design, and Child Development. As the
department expanded and evolved she focused on teaching and coordinating
the Dressmaking & Alterations Program for 20 years, teaching Interior
Design for 25 years, and continuing her involvement in the Human
Development field. Over the years she has developed several programs
and taught numerous courses and now enjoys concentrating on Human
Development, Life Management, and Adulthood & Aging. She is also deeply
involved in developing the Human Services Career Pathway of the
refocused Family Studies Program.
Carol received her BS in Home
Economics (1968) and teaching credential (1969) from the University of
California, Davis. She earned her MS in Clothing, Textiles & Related
Arts, and Family Management (1977) from Oregon State University. She
has been active in nearly all campus committees over her tenure and
presently represents Family Studies in the Statewide FCS (Family &
Consumer Science) Advisory Board.
