Meet the Instructor:
Bethany comes to Shasta College from Chico, CA where she taught for 2+
years in the didactic program in dietetics for the Department of Nutrition & Food
Sciences. She received her B.A. in Biology (1991) from the
University of Rhode Island. After working at the field of oceanography
at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) for several
years, she returned to graduate school and earned her M.S. in Nutrition
Science (2006) from California State University, Chico. Bethany is
a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society, the Institute of Food
Technologists (IFT), the American Botanical Council (ABC), The American
Dietetic Association (ADA), and is an active member of the Advisory
Board for the CSU, Chico Nutrition & Food Sciences Department.
Her professional
interests include
nutrition and foods, food science,
& nutritional biochemistry. Her masters research focused on the
effects growing practice has on naval oranges, and her research
findings have been presented in several different research competitions
and professional conferences, including the California Dietetic
Association in
2007. She is currently working on publishing her
research. |
