1. Complete an application for
Admission to Shasta College.
This application may be obtained at
the Admissions & Records Office or you may
Apply Online.
2.
Complete VA application for Education Benefits.
Apply Online.
You will receive a confirmation number and an email from the VA upon
successful submission of your online application. You
must bring in a copy of the entire completed online application to
the Admissions and Records Office.
3. Provide a copy of your DD-214
(Member 4) to the Admissions and Records Office.
(Applies only to Chapter 30) For
Selected Reservists, a copy of your Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE)
must be submitted. This is obtained through your command.
4. Take the Math and English Assessment Tests.
Contact the Assessment Center at
530-242-7751 for hours of operation. If you completed these tests
at another college, please have your scores sent to Shasta
College. Note: VA does not recognize Math Self Placement as a valid means
of assessing math; please complete the MDTP Math Test.
5. Provide Shasta College with
Official Transcripts for all other college course work completed
before, during, or after your military service. Send to:

6. Meet with a counselor for an
Educational Plan.
This Ed Plan will include an
evaluation of all prior college credit. In addition, it will list
each class required to fulfill your educational goal. All steps
listed above must be completed before meeting with a counselor. An
Ed Plan must be on file prior to your second term of enrollment in
order for your classes to be certified with the VA. To
schedule an appointment with the VA Counselor, contact the
Counseling Center at 530-242-7724.
7. Attend a Shasta College
Orientation.

8. Registration and Certification
Request
This step may fall anywhere in the
process. You may register for any course; however, only those
courses on your Ed Plan can be certified to the VA. To learn about
online registration, visit
MyShasta. Once you have
completed your registration, fill out a
Certification Request and
turn it into the Admissions Office. This step must be completed each
semester.
