At Shasta College we welcome international
students and are actively internationalizing our campus. Shasta College is a
two-year community college that was founded in 1948 in the northern
California community of Redding, approximately three hours north of San
Francisco. Shasta College provides strong lower division college preparation
for the majors offered at four-year colleges and universities.
Shasta College offers both Associate in Arts and Associate in Science
degrees in each of our Centers of Excellence which include: The Center for
Fine Arts and Communication; The Center for Business, Math and Technology;
The Center for Human Development; The Center for Language Arts and Social
Science; The Center for Public Safety, Sports and Fitness; and The Center
for Science, Industry and Natural Resources. An Associate degree can be
completed in as little as two years. If you plan to complete a four-year
Bachelors degree, the Shasta College Transfer Center provides strong support
in the transfer process. Shasta College has articulation agreements that
facilitate transfer to the University of California, California State
University (CSU) campuses and many private colleges. Shasta College also
offers Career and Technical Certificate Programs that will prepare you for
entry-level jobs in specific careers. In addition to providing practical job
skills, these programs can often be completed in two years or less which
means you will soon be ready to start your new career.
In addition to academic excellence, Shasta College offers small classes,
individualized attention from faculty, and a safe campus environment. Shasta
College has an excellent international student program which includes a
faculty buddy system, English as a Second Language (ESL) support, and an
active Intercultural Club which facilitates friendships with American
students in on- and off-campus intercultural activities. In addition, we
have available on campus a variety of intercollegiate sports for eligible
students.
Even if recent international economic crises have affected your local
economic situation, you do not have to abandon plans to study in the United
States. While we do not have financial aid available for international
students, Shasta College does provide high quality college education at an
affordable cost. Two years of study at Shasta College costs approximately
40% less than comparable coursework at other California four-year
institutions.
