          Q: Is EOPS part of financial aid?

          A: EOPS is not part of financial aid. However, EOPS works in conjunction with   

             financial aid to provide you with the best possible service.

          Q: Do you offer any financial assistance?

          A: Yes. We have a book service program that allows students to purchase books

             required for their courses at the Shasta College Bookstore in addition to a one-

             time emergency loanprogram for students with a current FAFSA form on file.

          Q: In order to qualify for EOPS, I need be 'academically

           disadvantaged.'  What does that mean?

          A: Being academically disadvantaged means that you meet any one of the

             following criteria:

             1.You are not qualified to enroll into minimum level English or math courses, or

             2.You do not have a GED or high school diploma, or

             3. You graduated from high school with a grade point average below 2.5, or

             4. You were previously enrolled in remedial courses either in high school or

                  college, or

             5. You meet one of the 'other' criteria as outlined in Title 5 of the California Code of

             Regulations.

          Q: Do I need to re-apply for EOPS every year?

          A: No. As long as you fulfill the requirements of the EOPS Mutual Responsibility

             Contract which is explained to you upon your acceptance into the Program, you

             will remain in good standing with EOPS until you reach the 70 unit limit or have

             received EOPS services for six consecutive semesters, or have earned an

             Associates Degree, whichever comes first.
