CARE Services

CARE is the acronym for Cooperative Agencies Resources for  Education.

CARE was established by the State's Chancellor's Office in 1982 as "a unique educational program geared toward the CalWORKS/TANF recipient who desires job-relevant education to break the welfare dependency cycle." CARE is the only state-funded program of its kind nationwide that provides services “over and above” those of EOPS.

Students eligible for CARE receive services above and beyond EOPS services.

CARE services include but are not limited to:

bulletReimbursement for child care
bulletReimbursement for transportation
bulletTextbook Service (over and above your EOPS book voucher)
bulletSchool Supplies
bulletReimbursement for required materials (i.e., medical goggles, scrubs)
